Deep links: send followers straight into the app, not the browser

Why links opened inside Instagram or TikTok often land in the wrong place, and how deep links fix it.

The in-app browser problem

When someone taps a YouTube or Amazon link inside Instagram, it usually opens in Instagram's built-in browser. They are not signed in there, so they cannot subscribe, follow or buy easily — and many simply leave.

What a deep link does

A deep link tries to open the destination in its own app, where the visitor is already signed in. Subscribing, following or buying then takes one tap instead of several.

Where to use it

Use deep links for actions that need an account: subscribing to a channel, following on another platform, or opening a product in a shopping app. For simple articles or pages, a normal link is enough.
